New Life At Calvary
Sharing our story of our catastrophic EF1 tornado
In August 2023, our church was struck by a devastating EF-1 tornado. The road to recovery has been filled with challenges, yet it has also been a journey marked by faith and hope. We extend an invitation to you to listen to our story.
Upon our initial arrival at the church, the damage was severe. Debris from the roof and building littered the streets, and the darkness made it difficult to fully assess the extent of the destruction. The main entrance was completely destroyed, but fortunately, we were able to gain access through another door. While the first floor seemed relatively unscathed, the true extent of the damage became apparent as we ascended the stairs. There were expressions of disbelief, with words like "is that the sky?" and "is that the moon?"
With the break of dawn the following day, we were able to witness the full extent of the devastation to our building. Two out of the three trees planted in honor of veterans from World War I, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War had been completely uprooted and were leaning against our structure.
The roofs of our Gym, Fellowship Hall, and Sanctuary had all sustained damage. This was merely the beginning of the extensive damage that awaited our discovery. Join us for weekly updates.
